Programme outline

Morning session

Keynote address: by the Hon Christopher Finlayson, Attorney-General

The morning focuses on the development of legislation. Speakers will include the Hon Justice McGrath, Justice of the Supreme Court, Professor John Burrows QC, Law Commissioner, Ivan Kwok, Principal Adviser, The Treasury, Dr John Yeabsley, Senior Fellow, New Zealand Institute of Economic Research, Bill Moore, Deputy Chief Parliamentary Counsel, and Fiona Leonard, Parliamentary Counsel.

Afternoon session

The afternoon focuses on the parliamentary process as it relates to legislation. Speakers will include Mary Harris, Clerk of the House of Representatives, David Wilson, Clerk-Assistant (Select Committees), the Hon David Parker, Chair of the Government Administration Committee, and Louise Vickerman, Senior Parliamentary Officer (Table).
