Consultation: Statutes Repeal Bill

THIS CONSULTATION IS NOW CLOSED.

The Treasury and the Parliamentary Counsel Office are seeking feedback on the Statutes Repeal Bill before it is introduced into Parliament.

The Statutes Repeal Bill will repeal legislation that is unnecessary and spent. Removing "dead wood" from the statute book helps keep New Zealand's laws up to date, making them easier to understand and apply.

We have prepared this "Exposure Draft" of the Bill for public review, so that feedback from interested parties can be used to improve the Bill before introduction.

See the explanatory material for:

  • important information on the submission process and publication/release of submissions
  • specific questions we are seeking feedback on
  • the background and purpose of the Bill
  • which Acts are included, and why.

The Minister for Regulatory Reform and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Regulatory Reform released a media statement on 13 October 2015 announcing the draft Bill. View the media statement »
